What is Release NZ’s cancellation policy?
Because luxury villas and private residences are not commercial hotels, re-renting at short notice can be difficult. For this reason:
- Payments are non-refundable in the event of cancellation by the client.
- We will always approach the property owner on your behalf to try and secure a credit for future travel. If agreed, we provide a written statement of account confirming the credit.
- We highly recommend comprehensive travel insurance to protect against cancellations, medical issues, or unforeseen events.
How many guests can stay in each villa or holiday rental?
Each property has a defined maximum occupancy based on bedrooms and bedding configuration.
- Guest numbers must not exceed what is stated in the booking confirmation.
- The named client must be present for the duration of the stay (unless agreed in writing).
- Release NZ reserves the right to refuse entry or terminate occupancy if these conditions are not met.
What is the best way to travel from Queenstown to Wanaka?
The drive from Queenstown to Wanaka takes approximately one hour via the Crown Range Road — New Zealand’s highest sealed road and one of the country’s most scenic routes.
We can also arrange:
- Private transfers (luxury vehicle or minivan).
- Helicopter flights (approx. 10 minutes).
- Rental cars delivered to Queenstown Airport or your villa.
How far is Wanaka from Queenstown Airport?
Wanaka is 70 km (43 miles) from Queenstown Airport. Driving time is typically 45–60 minutes, depending on traffic and weather. Helicopter transfers take just 10 minutes and provide a spectacular arrival. Our concierge team can arrange seamless airport transfers.
Can Release NZ arrange babysitting or in-villa spa treatments?
Yes. Our Travel Fixer concierge works with trusted local providers to arrange:

Advance booking is recommended, especially during peak travel seasons.
What activities are available near Wanaka holiday homes?

Are pets allowed in Release NZ properties?
Pet policies vary by property. Some villas allow well-behaved dogs with prior approval, usually with:
- Additional cleaning fees.
- A refundable security bond.
Please confirm suitability at the time of booking.
What is the minimum stay requirement?
Most luxury holiday homes require 3–5 nights minimum stay, with longer requirements (often 7 nights) during peak holiday periods such as Christmas, New Year, and Easter. Some villas may accept shorter stays in off-peak seasons, subject to availability.
Do villas include air conditioning or heating?
Most Release NZ properties include modern climate control systems:
- Air conditioning and natural ventilation for summer.
- Underfloor heating, fireplaces, and efficient heating for winter.
Each property listing includes specific climate details.
Can we check in early or check out late?
Standard check-in is 3:00 pm and check-out is 11:00 am. Early check-in or late check-out may be possible depending on:
- Housekeeping schedules.
- Guest bookings before/after your stay.
Extra fees may apply for extended hours.
Are towels and linens provided?
Yes. Every property includes:
- Luxury bed linens.
- Bath towels and beach towels.
- Premium New Zealand toiletries.
For longer stays, mid-stay servicing and linen changes may be included.
Can families rent cots, high chairs, or other baby equipment?
Yes. We can provide:
- Portacots and high chairs.
- Strollers and safety gates.
Equipment can be set up prior to arrival. Rental fees may apply.
Do you offer discounts for extended stays or large groups?
Yes. Depending on property and season, we may be able to offer:
- Reduced nightly rates for bookings of 7+ nights.
- Group pricing when properties are booked to full capacity.
- Seasonal promotions and last-minute offers.

Why is a security deposit required?
A refundable security bond (typically $NZD 1,000 – 5,000 depending on property) is required to protect against:
- Property damage.
- Excessive cleaning needs.
- Missing items.
Deposits are held on a credit card and refunded within 3–6 business days after departure, following inspection.
